On an estate or farm well in King? Your water is not in York's table. Start with in-depth well water testing, then treat what is actually there.

King City gets Lake Ontario water blended with groundwater. Nobleton, Schomberg and Ansnorveldt run on groundwater only. York Region's latest figures put King City at 131 mg/L, about 7.7 grains per gallon, hard. Nobleton and Schomberg are both 264 mg/L, about 15.4 grains per gallon, very hard, about twice King City.
Ansnorveldt, out on the Holland Marsh, is the exception at 116 mg/L, about 6.8 grains per gallon. That is moderately hard, not hard, and we will size accordingly or tell you to skip the softener if scale is not bothering you.
Nobleton also carries iron: 0.776 mg/L, the highest in York's table. That shows up as tinted water and stained fixtures, and a softener there has to be set up for it.
The water is treated, monitored and safe. Hardness is a scale problem. Rural King is private wells, lots of them on estate properties, and those start with in-depth well water testing.

Softeners for King City, Nobleton and Schomberg
In Nobleton and Schomberg at 264 mg/L, a water softener is close to standard in homes that want to keep their fixtures and water heaters. King City at 131 mg/L needs less capacity. Large newer homes with several bathrooms need a softener sized for peak flow, and often a twin-tank unit so there is never hard water during regeneration.
In Nobleton the iron at 0.776 mg/L changes the set-up. We program for it, and the after reading at your tap confirms the softener is handling the water you actually have. A carbon stage beside the softener handles chlorine, and RO at the kitchen tap finishes the drinking water.

Estate and farm wells
Outside the villages and hamlets, King is estate lots and farms on private wells. York's table does not cover them, and we will not guess at your well. In-depth well water testing comes first: bacteria, nitrates, iron, sulphur, pH and hardness. A low pH stops an iron filter working, so we check it.
Then we treat in order: pH correction where needed, iron and sulphur, softener, UV. Estate homes need every stage sized for peak flow, the house full of guests, not the quiet Tuesday. Our guide to iron and sulphur in well water explains what a well test is looking for.
- In-depth well water testing first
- Full well treatment in the right sequence
- High-flow softeners and monitored UV
Before and after. That is the proof.
We do not ask you to take our word for it. Before we connect anything, we read the hardness at your tap. That is your baseline. We install, program the softener from that number, and read the same tap again. You see both readings. The after number tells you it works. It tells us it is set up right.
