Water Softeners in Sharon, Queensville and East Gwillimbury
Sharon and Queensville are on hard water, and new homes feel it first in the tankless heater. You already know it. We fix it with a Canadian-made softener and show you the hardness before and after.

Book well water testingSharon and Queensville: hard water and new homes
The Town of East Gwillimbury runs three drinking water systems: Holland Landing/Queensville/Sharon, Mount Albert, and Yonge/Green Lane. York Region lists the Holland Landing/Queensville/Sharon system as Lake Ontario water blended with groundwater. Its latest Queensville figure is 160 mg/L, about 9.4 grains per gallon. That is hard, toward the upper end of the band.
The new streets in Sharon and Queensville were built fast, and most of them came with a tankless water heater and no softener. That combination is why the calls start a year or two in: scale on the fixtures, a heater throwing error codes, a kettle that needs descaling every month. You already know the water is hard. A softener is the fix.
Mount Albert is on its own groundwater-only system and is much harder, at 317 mg/L, about 18.5 grains per gallon; it has its own page. Holland Landing shares the Sharon and Queensville system and has its own page too.
Rural East Gwillimbury, between the villages, is on private wells, and the Town's 2024 Water and Wastewater Master Plan says those areas are not planned for municipal servicing. Those homes start with in-depth well water testing.

Softeners for the new subdivisions
At 160 mg/L, about 9.4 grains per gallon, Queensville water is hard enough that a water softener is the first thing new homeowners here ask about. Builders rarely include one, and the tankless water heater is the first thing to suffer. Scale builds on its heat exchanger fast, and a softener ahead of it stops that.
York's table also shows iron at 0.443 mg/L in Queensville, far higher than the lake-fed systems up at Keswick. That is the groundwater half of the blend. We set the softener up with that iron in mind, and the after reading tells us it is handling the water you actually have.
Sharon has no separate row in York's table. It is on the same Holland Landing/Queensville/Sharon system, so the Queensville figure is the one to use. Where chlorine taste bothers you, a carbon stage goes beside the softener on one bypass.
- Softener installation in new homes
- Tankless heater scale protection
- Whole-home filtration for chlorine
Rural wells on the concessions
Between the villages, from the concessions east of Highway 48 to the edge of the Holland Marsh, homes are on private wells, and the Town's master plan does not bring municipal water to them. A well is not town water. Nobody tests it but you. York Region tests private wells for bacteria free of charge, and that is all it tests.
Our in-depth well water testing covers bacteria, nitrates, iron, sulphur, hardness and more, and then we treat in order: sediment, iron and sulphur, softener, UV, only what the results call for. If orange stains or a rotten egg smell brought you here, start with our guide to iron and sulphur in well water.
- In-depth well water testing first
- Well treatment sequenced from the results
- UV with post-install bacteria testing
Before and after. That is the proof.
We do not ask you to take our word for it. Before we connect anything, we read the hardness at your tap. That is your baseline. We install, program the softener from that number, and read the same tap again. You see both readings. The after number tells you it works. It tells us it is set up right.
